Two days after the record-breaking Scoop6 bet was landed the search is still on to find the actual identities of the eight Scoop6- ticket holders and with that the chance to go for a £5.48 million bonus fund this Saturday.
One £2 ticket holder was said to be a London-based customer that bought his ticket in a Paddy Power shop – he was described on Sunday as being “absolutely delirious” after landing £1,342,599.
It wasn’t an easy ride for that winning punter as when checking the result of the fourth leg, the he could not see his selection – March – and presumed he had been knocked out when in fact that horse had been a non-runner so his ticket switched on to favourite – and the winner – Joyeuse instead.
He said: “Obviously I didn’t expect too much from the Scoop6, and looking at that result I thought I’d lost, but then I checked and I was absolutely delirious when I’d won.”
In addition to that Paddy Power punter, the other winners were said to be a £6 punter from a Ladbrokes shop in Dublin, two Betfair clients who each staked five-figure sums, and a syndicate understood to hold three tickets.
Ladbrokes’ Hayley O’Connor said: “The payout is the biggest we’ve ever made in Ireland and the customer has become one of the biggest betting shop winners of all time across Ireland and Britain.”
